Ok when Pope John Paul II died, I said in jest that I had submitted an application for the top job. However, not being a Cardinal, speaking Latin or even being Catholic hindered my chances. Now I am again heartened since I could still be a Supreme Court Justice. Sure my legal experience is limited but I have read the Constitution, so I am as good a candidate as any.
Seriously, Harriet Miers is not a bad choice since she still a lawyer, instead of an “experienced judge”. Remember most judges are elected so they are politicians first.
She truly is a mystery since she has a record that is both anti-abortion and mildly pro-choice. She is a prominent Texas lawyer (if you have heard of the Bible Belt, Dallas is the buckle), but she is well, a she, and a champion for women in legal profession. She is a Bush friend, but she gave money to Gore to defeat W. Sr.? I suspect this means she will be a flexible conservative, since she stands on the right but faces to the left.
