Ok, I will start this out by saying that I don’t even think I could bike to work, much less across ~2,300 miles around France, so I am not trying to diminish his achievements.
Lance Armstrong has won the Tour de France 7 times in a row. But here is something most people don’t think about, didn’t just show up and start winning, he has won 7 times but entered 11 times. For you ladies out there remember he divorced his wife once he got famous, you know the woman who supported him during his fight with cancer and his comeback and mother of his children, so that he could marry Sheryl Crowe. As for his doping allegations, I am not sure. He is in better shape at 35 than most of his 20 something competitors. Consider if you will that part of the treatment for after his cancer would have been testosterone injections, to replace the hormone normally produced in testicles. Testosterone is the granddaddy anabolic steroid, in just the right dose it builds massive amounts of muscle, so would he need other steroids? (For your amusement: if you have too much testosterone or other steroids they are converted into estrogen, which in men shrinks the penis and testicles but since the sex drive is suppressed too I guess you don’t have to worry. It also causes the growth breasts/areolas, thins the skin and causes mood swings and in some cases lactation. More interesting the “male smell” is suppressed too.)
