My advice comes from my strong understanding of people and their interactions. I am the go to guy for problems and concerns of those around me. The biggest problem I find is people who are "trapped" by the weight of their concern and a fear of choosing incorrectly even if they know the right direction. I firmly believe that the best advice is hearing, what you deep down already know is the right thing, from a person who understands your situation but is otherwise not involved. This boosts their self esteem and gives them a small push in the right direct, and that is all many people need to start working things out on their own.
In some people the problem is a symptom of a trauma they don’t want to face. People live with these demons all their lives so they “forget” about them and try to find solutions to the symptoms and not the problem. However, the demons have to at least be acknowledged before any real progress can be made. While therapy with a real mental health professional is the best course of action in these cases, talking about the trauma and getting a census of the demons is a big step. The initial discussion can ease the transition to the realization that they need help and prepare the person to face them the hard times ahead fortified by the knowledge that a better life is possible. If nothing else you can talk to someone who will listen and will offer an honest opinion about your options. I have infinite capacity to absorb the woe of others, so don't be shy.
However, if you think everything I have said is tripe and your problems are not like that but fit into my stated categories, I encourage you to think about it abit to see if perhaps my approach could be applied. If the answer is still no, then you really have no reason to solicit my consul, so if you need help I suggest you move on and seek it else where. Advice only allows change if you believe in the giver, so best of luck to you and no hard feelings.
